What is Yoga? Yoga is the Sanskrit word for Union. Sanskrit is the ancient language if India. It is a very sacred language. Some priests, scholars, Yogis, Sadhus, Rishis, and Bikkhus still speak this language today. This language is believed to be the language if the spiritual realm.
Yoga means Union. Union with the Divine. Union with God. Union with yourself. Union with your Emotions. Yoga is a very, very, very, sacred practice. Yoga is a great way to stay connected with the Divine Mother in this age of the world. There are different types of Yoga but they all lead you to the same goal which is Samadhi or Enlightenment.
What is Enlightenment? Enlightenment is truly knowing yourself. Being 100% immersed in bliss and feeling the presence of the Divine every where you look. Once we understand that we are always connected with God that we have never been separated from Him and that we never will be. Yoga is a great way to reach this goal. The common mistake of Westerners is that they think Yoga is a Physical exercise. That is only 1 limb of Yoga. There are 8 limbs of Yoga. The Physical postures are called Asanas. There are 7 other limbs such as The Yamas, Niyamas, Asanas, Pranayama, Prathyahara, Dharana, Dhyana, and Samadhi. I suggest you search on the Internet The 8 Limbs of Yoga. It will tell you in English.
Yoga is not just preformed 1 hour or 3 hours. Yoga is supposed to be preformed for 24 hours. When you are happy you are doing Yoga. When you are doing mindful breathing you are doing Yoga. When you are giving you are doing Yoga. Yoga is supposed to be preformed the whole day. Even in your sleep! This may sound weird but it is true. Yoga means Union. Anything that makes you happy or whatever your passion is when you are happy you are doing Yoga.
Keep Calm and Yoga On!! Namaste!
